introduction

Are you looking to kickstart your Pinterest presence or just need some fresh insight to revamp your existing strategy? Our Account Director, Natalia, has got you covered.

Recently, she shared her top 3 tips for optimising your Pinterest strategy in a podcast with Lauren from Content Collective. We’re here to decode those tips and expand on them in this blog post.

1. Focus on the Right Metrics

Pinterest isn’t your typical social platform. It’s a unique blend of search engine and social network, which means traditional engagement metrics like follower count don’t hold as much weight here. Instead, you should shift your focus to more meaningful metrics.

It’s not about how many people are following you on Pinterest, but rather how many people are seeing and interacting with your content. Make sure that a substantial number of users are viewing your content monthly and saving it. This reach and engagement level indicates your content’s relevance and value to the Pinterest community.

2. Always Plan Ahead

Pinterest users are planners. They use the platform to gather ideas and inspiration for future events, holidays, and projects. Natalia suggests that to stay ahead, you need to think some three months in advance. For instance, if you’re planning a Christmas campaign, don’t wait until December. If you do, you’re already a month behind the curve.

By timing your content correctly, you can tap into the anticipatory nature of Pinterest users and get your content in front of them right when they’re most eager to engage with it.

3. Create Informative and Keyword-rich Pins

Pinterest users are looking for ideas and inspiration, and pins that offer clear, actionable information are more likely to catch their eye. Natalia recommends ensuring that your pins speak for themselves. They should clearly show your logo, a call to action, and a text overlay including the right keywords.

For example, if you’re selling a ‘meal kit’, your pin should explicitly state that. Show the product in your creative, and make sure users know that they aren’t just inspirational images—they can actually purchase the products you’re showcasing.

Pinterest can be a goldmine for businesses and creators if utilised correctly. It’s all about understanding the platform, its users, and how they interact with content. Natalia’s Pinterest tips can guide you in leveraging the platform’s potential to the fullest.
