Web analytics 'a top priority' for midsized companies 15/03/2011 New research has revealed that medium-sized companies are keen to invest in web analytics technology over the coming year.
Midsized companies in the UK are putting web analytics technology at the top of their wish list, according to new research.

The IBM study - Inside the Midmarket: A 2011 Perspective - revealed that web analytics is a top priority among many medium-sized enterprises, with 72 per cent of respondents revealing that they are "actively pursuing" such technology in order to "better understand their customers, make better business decisions and become more efficient".

In addition, 62 per cent of those questioned stated that they expect their IT budgets to rise over the next 12 to 18 months.

This is a substantial increase compared with 2009, when just 11 per cent of respondents anticipated such a boost.

According to the survey, 81 per cent of midsized businesses are now focusing on customers, growth and innovation, with the researchers noting this is "reflected in the increased adoption of analytics and predictive technologies".

These findings are supported by a report published by Econsultancy last month, which found that 45 per cent of those working in marketing intend to increase their spending on business and web analytics tools over the next year.
