Web analytics 'a top IT priority for mid-sized businesses' 20/01/2011 Mid-sized businesses are set to place web analytics among their top IT priorities during 2011, a new survey has revealed.
Web analytics has been cited as one of the top IT priorities among mid-sized businesses this year following a new study.

The report - Inside the Midmarket: A 2011 Perspective - from IBM found that 70 per cent of the companies surveyed intend to introduce business and web analytics over the coming 12 months in order to gain a greater insight from their data.

Meanwhile, analytics was classed as one of the "most critical IT priorities", alongside security, customer relationship management and information management.

Andy Monshaw, general manager at IBM Midmarket, commented that the focus for IT departments has shifted over the past 18 months and is moving away from cost reductions.

"Today, the conversation is also about expanding their business, connecting with customers and gaining greater insights," he stated.

It is not only IT departments that are looking at web analytics. A recent study carried out on behalf of Efficient Frontier found that many marketers are not satisfied with their analytics tools, with more than half of respondents naming predictive analytics as particularly desirable.
