Vouchers help with conversion rates
05/07/2010
Vouchers can help improve conversion rates and make sure customers return.
Benefits of online vouchers to conversion rates and checkout optimisation have once again been shown in a new survey.
According to Econsultancy, the report from Compete found that 57 per cent of customers using a coupon said that it was crucial to them going through with their purchases, while most also found the shopping more satisfying.
Interestingly, the results of the survey also indicated that the vouchers helped with shopping offline too, with users of coupons spending an average of $216 on all types of shopping, while those without one spent $122.
Furthermore, 91 per cent said that they would return to a retailer having used a coupon to make purchases.
Graham Charlton of Econsultancy said: "There is something around the psychology of coupon use that convinces customers to spend more.
"The survey suggests then coupons users, perhaps because they are looking for ways to use their discounts, are more open to product displays, in-store ads, and impulse buys."
Another advantage of coupons is that they encourage customers to share deals with their friends and family, providing websites with visitors that are more likely to convert.
