The rise and rise of web analytics
27/01/2011
One expert has identified web analytics as "a powerful tool" for the online advertising industry.
Web analytics is set to become the next big thing in advertising, according to one media expert.
Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn - which facilitates networking between global media companies - revealed that web analytics is one of the areas to watch in online advertising.
"We also uncovered a new trend that's creating high-growth company opportunity - the emergence of web analytics as a powerful tool to help advertisers ascertain the 'wisdom of the crowd'," he stated.
Mr Perkins added that using web analytics enables advertisers to improve the targeting of their marketing and branding pitches.
He made the comments as AlwaysOn announced its 2011 OnMedia 100 Top Private Companies list, which picks out the top digital media organisations that work in the advertising, marketing and content publishing industries.
Other areas to watch over the coming 12 months include the growing use of smartphones, social media and social commerce, the publication noted.
Earlier this month, AlwaysOn called for nominations for its OnDemand 100 private company competition which aims to showcase the best emerging on-demand organisations.
