Mobile marketing helps sports retail website improve conversion rates
23/07/2010
MandMDirect.com took advantage of mobile marketing to improve conversion rates.
A sports retailer used a mobile marketing campaign to help to improve conversion rates and drive revenue.
MandMDirect.com sent text messages every month to its active customers and found that six per cent of them went on to make purchases as a result of the texts, according to Internet Retailing.
Jonathan Jones, head of UK marketing at MandMDirect.com, told the publication: "The results we've seen are further evidence of the growing importance of mobile in retail.
"Our customer base wants the best deals but doesn't want to spend ages looking for them - by using text messages we're able to give them relevant and timely offers such as free delivery, ensuring they can take advantage of promotions as and when they happen."
Another way to take into consideration mobile devices would be to develop applications for handsets such as the iPhone or create pages tailored for smaller screens.
Meanwhile, vouchers and promotional codes can also help to drive up conversion rates.
