Mobile-friendly sites could prove profitable, Google Analytics reveal
Google Analytics data has revealed the market potential for sites that generate mobile-friendly content.
Figures published on the Google Analytics blog reveal that the number of monthly visits to googlestore.com from Android, Blackberry and iPhone devices have increased markedly over the last two years.
In September 2008, there were 277 visits. In July of this year, this figure had soared to 13,000.
This huge rise is evidence that increasing numbers of people are using their mobiles to access the internet – a statistic that firms should perhaps pay close attention to.
Indeed, Google suggests that firms might wish to set up sites geared towards mobile users.
The blog states: "Given this kind of growth, it makes sense for many businesses to set up a mobile device-friendly site."
It adds that the analytics tools available for monitoring mobile access are just as comprehensive as normal sites, with the number of visits, pages viewed and time spent on the site all monitored.
