Demand for web analytics professionals outweighs supply
10/03/2011
There are more companies seeking experts in web analytics than there are people to fill the positions, it has been claimed.
An increasing number of companies are looking to hire web analytics experts to add to their in-house IT teams, however, there are not enough specialists to fill the demand.
This was one of the observations made by Chris Lake after attending the Econsultancy Digital Cream event.
Writing in a blog for the organisation, he summarised the debates taking place at various roundtable discussions throughout the day.
One of these centred on the search for talented web analytics professionals, with Mr Lake noting "there is something of a hiring boom going on" in this area.
He added that a few years ago, many firms realised the value of hiring in-house analysts.
"The tools had become incredibly powerful, but needed specialists to get the best out of them," he explained.
It could become particularly important following the results of a survey published last month by Econsultancy, which revealed that 45 per cent of marketing departments intend to boost spending on business and web analytics tools during 2011.
