Conversion rates 'often overlooked' by small businesses 25/01/2011 One industry expert has claimed that many small businesses fail to consider conversions when designing their website.
Many small businesses could improve conversion rates by making some relatively straightforward changes to the design of their website, it has been claimed.

Writing for Sys-Con Media, internet marketing specialist Rebecca Gill commented that while many companies understand the concept of conversions, they seem to forget about it when designing their website.

"Small website design changes can have a big impact on how you convert website visitors," Ms Gill stated.

She cited an example of one of her clients, which saw the number of new subscriptions to its newsletter jump from 250 per month to 700 simply by moving the sign-up box above the fold and changing the wording.

Ms Gill added that this demonstrates how "three minutes of coding can have dramatic and long-term results".

Earlier this month, Lucas Sommer, founder of Audimated.com, told Business Insider that he has redesigned his website with a focus on its core capabilities in order to improve conversion rates.

He explained that it was easy to get caught up in all the things that could be done, rather than looking at the areas of the site that needed to be set up first.
