Blogger gets analytics tool
06/07/2010
Blogger users now have access to an analytics tool integrated into the service, although Google Analytics will continue to provide richer data.
A new analytics tool has been introduced into Blogger to allow users of the service to get data about visitors to the site.
Although statistics can already be gained by using Google Analytics, the new tool, called Stats, will be integrated into the Blogger dashboard, meaning there is no need to copy and paste in any code.
With near real-time data, businesses with blogs running on the platform will be able to find out exactly which posts are performing well and what people are sharing.
Staszek Pasko and Wiktor Gworek, software engineers at Blogger, said: "There's also a lot more data that's being tracked, such as popular search keywords that send visitors to your blog, which country your visitors come from, and which web browsers they are using.
"Basically, with the new Stats feature, you know what's going on with your blog right now."
Blogger users will continue to be able to get statistics through Google Analytics, which has many more features, including the ability to asses the browsing habits of visitors from different mobile devices.
