Small businesses have been told that A/B testing is one of the best ways of optimising a website.
Small businesses have been told of the importance of A/B testing and given some tips on best practices.
In an article for Mashable, Grace Smith looks at various trends in web design at the moment and advises businesses on what to go for.
She also points out that A/B testing is one of the best ways of optimising a website, as long as clearly-defined goals are set.
Furthermore, she suggests that website owners should start off by testing elements that will have the "biggest impact for minimum effort", while feedback should also be analysed alongside results.
"With competition growing fiercer online, it's important for small businesses to have a website that converts visitors to buyers and creates a competitive edge. That's why it is important to continually measure and improve site performance, usability and conversions," the author adds.
"A/B testing won't make a bad design great, but it will prove an effective aid in optimising your current design's usability and conversions until you decide to overhaul your website design completely."
An alternative to A/B testing would be multivariate testing, in which a number of elements of a website can be tested simultaneously.
