I wanted to get in touch with you directly to reassure you that we are here to help and support you at this challenging time as the coronavirus pandemic continues to play out.
We have staff in place who have been actively planning to ensure business continuity for a number of different scenarios. They have been working closely with myself and Ricky to establish processes and plans that will help us to continue business operations. Here are just some of the measures we have taken so far:
- This week the entire team at Push has moved from working from home (WFH) one day a week to two. In the coming weeks we will increase this to three, four or five days as required; we are ready for the entire team to work from home for a period of a few weeks if needs be. We are encouraging the use of video conferencing with colleagues, customers and partners. We have split the team into an A and B team who rotate the days they are in the office. This minimises the chances of any infection spreading.
- With the cancellation of many events and meetings, we will deliver a series of webinars on topics such as: impact of search based on recent events, how it is affecting other customers to keep you up to date and ahead of your competitors. We will share more details in due course.
- We have, like many of our customers and partners, put a hold on handshaking (and hugs) for the time being. We hope nobody is offended by this.
- Cleaning at our offices has been stepped up this week to include communal areas and particular focus is made to door handles and touchpoints. Hand gel was ordered back in January as we followed the outbreak in China.
- All international business travel has been cancelled. I’ve personally cancelled two trips to our offices in Athens and Dubai. Ricky has cancelled a planned trip to the USA.
We are working to maintain or improve on existing response times. The hours we all work will remain as they are (or increase with the impact of WFH) providing we do not experience large scale illness and absenteeism. To date, at Push, nobody has been taken ill and we want to keep it that way, anyone with a sore throat or cold have been asked to stay at home for a few weeks.
It does look as though this horrible situation has a relatively short term impact. As I write this the latest news tells me that there were only 8 new cases in China yesterday.
